A spooky way to start the day...

A spooky start to the school holidays with our ghost on toast. 👻 An easy, fun and cheap brekkie to fuel the kids for a day of half-term fun.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium eggs whites and yolks separated
  • 1 medium egg whole
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 slices white or brown bread
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Ketchup or hot sauce for eyes and mouth

Method

  1. Start by mixing your egg yolks, whole egg, milk, paprika, salt and pepper in a shallow bowl and set to one side.
  2. Using a small knife cut away a ghost shape from the centre of each slice of bread. Don't throw away the cut away piece of bread as this will be dunked and fried as well.
  3. Melt your butter in a large, non-stick pan over a medium heat. Dip all of your bread in your eggy mix and add the slices to the pan (you can fry your cut out ghosts later).
  4. Fry on one side for a minute until golden, flip, pour half of your egg whites into each ghost shape and fry for a further couple of mins until your egg white ghost is set. Remove from the pan and add your cut out ghosts and fry for 30 seconds each side.
  5. Dollop two ketchup/hot sauce eyes onto your egg white ghosts head followed by another dollop for a mouth, serve with your cut out ghosts and tuck in...

Joker Juice

Joker Juice

1) Break up the jelly cubes and place in a jug.

2) Melt the jelly with boiling water. Once all the jelly has mixed with the boiling water, top up with cold water and pour the jelly mix into glasses with straws. Add less water than the packet suggests so it sets a little firmer.

3) Leave for a few hours in the fridge for the jelly to set.

4) Find a squash that matches the colour of the jelly and serve in the same glass with a straw.

Shock-o-late Truffles

1) Melt dark chocolate in a bowl over a pan filled with hot water on the hob, or simply melt in a bowl using a microwave.

2) If the chocolate is really runny, leave it to cool for a few minutes so it does not slide off the sprouts.

3) Dip raw sprouts that are similar sizes to the Morrisons chocolate truffles in the melted chocolate and place on a tray to chill.

4) Once the chocolate has started to set, dust all over or roll in cocoa powder.

5) Mix Morrisons The Best Chocolate Truffles and the chocolate covered sprouts together in a bowl.

'Crying Crayons'

Crying Crayons Pumpkin

This one needs a little help from the adults when melting the crayons, but the kids get to do the crafty part by sticking them onto your pumpkin and creating the rainbow pattern. The more colourful the better, and you can create different looks like black and red for a dracula theme...or lots of different greens for a zombie centrepiece.
