This summer, we’re giving customers the ‘Local BBQ Forecast’ in all our stores, to help you plan for a party outdoors (or make sure you have plenty of nibbles for those indoor duvet days on a rainy day).

“We can’t change the weather but we hope that by giving our customers up-to- date local BBQ forecasts we will help them plan their shopping and make the most of our fresh British food this summer.” Anna Lane, Customer Service Director at Morrisons

All through the summer holidays, you’ll find a weekend weather forecast at the front of your Morrisons store every Thursday from 5pm. That means you’ll have a better idea of whether to stock up on burgers, bangers and buns or head to the soup aisle. It should also lead to less food waste if the sun decides to stay in.

Research for Morrisons found that 58 per cent of Brits do not know the weather forecast when doing their shopping. As a result, more than a fifth (21 per cent) say they buy the wrong food for the weather.

To get the forecast as accurate as possible, we’re working with MetraWeather, a global leader in providing innovative weather information services. The ‘Local BBQ Forecasts’ will also be given on our tannoy announcements too, so listen out as you shop to make sure you’re prepared for the sometimes not-so-great British weather.
