July is Disability Pride Month and we wanted to share what we've doing to promote inclusion, awareness and  visibility of people with disabilities.

Disability Pride Month

Promoting inclusion, awareness and visibility of people with disabilities.

Here's what we've been up to in supporting Disability Pride Month. From educational courses for our employees, to accessible facilities in store, we've been busy.

Accessible Facilities

We now provide Changing Places toilets*, meeting the needs of people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, as well as people with other physical disabilities.

These toilets provide the right equipment, including a height adjustable adult-size changing table, a tracking hoist system, adequate space for a disabled person and carer, a peninsular WC with room either side, and a safe and clean environment including tear off paper to cover the bench, a large waste bin and a non-slip floor.

*Located in selected stores

Quieter Hour

Quieter hour was launched (every Saturday 9am - 10am) across all our stores back in 2018.

Since then, we've extended it to the first hour of store opening every Sunday. During these hours, we create a calmer shopping experience with no music, silent tills, dimmed lights and no cages on the shop floor. Our older customers and families with enhanced needs have also told us how much they appreciate shopping with us during these times.
