The Best Toad in the Hole

Nothing says comfort like a hearty toad in the hole. Upgrade your recipe to our The Best range to take this dish to a whole new level.

Ingredients

  • Morrisons The Best Cumberland Chipolata Sausages 
  • 140g plain flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 150ml semi skimmed milk
  • 150ml cold water
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 onions
  • Morrisons The Best Pork Gravy Granules
  • 30g plain flour (for the onions)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 220oc gas 8.
  2. Add oil to a frying pan and brown your The Best sausages. Make sure you use a pan that you can later use safely in the oven.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs with the milk and water, then add the flour to make a batter and finish with a pinch of salt.
  4. Pour the batter over the sausages and place the pan in a preheated oven to cook for 30 minutes.
  5. In a clean pan, add the onions and a drizzle of oil and slowly cook until they’re caramelised and soft.
  6. Make up your The Best gravy adding stock until thick and glossy.
  7. Add a spoonful of flour to the onions and stir until well coated, then add the gravy a little bit at a time.
  8. Taste and add salt and pepper if needed.
  9. Serve up your The Best toad in the hole with gravy, mash and The Best Red Cabbage or The Best Petit Pois.

The Best Vegetarian Royal Tikka Masala

It’s curry time! Add a bit of luxury to your Friday night curry night with our The Best vegetarian curry recipe. Add poppadoms and enjoy with The Best Bengal Spiced Mango Chutney and The Best Brinjal Pickle to start.

Ingredients

  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 large onion
  • The Best Royal Tikka Masala Sauce
  • 1 thumb sized piece of ginger, 20g
  • 1 red pepper, diced
  • 200g coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 2 small sweet potatoes, diced
  • 1 small cauliflower, cut into small florets 
  • Fresh coriander 
  • Rice 

Instructions

  1. Fry the garlic, onion, ginger, pepper and garam masala in a large casserole dish for 5 minutes until softened.
  2. Pour in The Best Royal Tikka Masala Sauce along with the coconut milk.
  3. Bring to the simmer and toss in the diced sweet potatoes, cook for 10 minutes.
  4. In the meantime, add a small knob of butter to a frying pan and toss in the cauliflower florets, season with salt and brown for 5 minutes.
  5. Add the cauliflower florets to the casserole dish and simmer for another 10 minutes.
  6. Finish with a dash of fresh coriander and serve with rice, naan bread and a spoonful of The Best Bengal Spiced Mango Chutney and The Best Brinjal Pickle.

The Best Cheesy Fish Pie

Ingredients

  • 260g Morrisons The Best Fresh Cod Loins, diced into large pieces
  • 150g Morrisons The Best Jumbo King Prawns
  • 220g Morrisons The Best Scottish Salmon, diced into large pieces
  • 350g Morrisons The Best Five Cheese Sauce
  • 450g Morrisons The Best Mashed Potato (buy two packs for extra creaminess)
  • 150g spinach
  • 50g grated cheddar 
  • Handful of fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions 

  1. Preheat the oven to 190oc gas 5.
  2. Chop the cod and salmon into large diced pieces.
  3. Prepare the five cheese sauce in a large pan, following the hob instructions on the pack.
  4. Boil the spinach for 3 minutes in a pan of boiling water until wilted. Drain, finely chop and add to the bottom of a deep ovenproof dish. Throw in the chopped fish, king prawns and parsley and pour over the five cheese sauce.
  5. Cook the mashed potato for 1 minute, then spoon over the fish mixture in your ovenproof dish and top with grated cheddar.
  6. Place in the oven and cook for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and piping hot.

Ingredients

  • 227g Morrisons The Best Ribeye Steak
  • Morrisons The Best Hollandaise Sauce
  • 200g Morrisons The Best Garlic and Cream Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms
  • Morrisons The Best Triple Cooked Chunky Chips
  • 420g Morrisons The Best Large Vine Tomatoes
  • Handful Morrisons Fresh Tarragon, chopped 

Instructions 

  1. Preheat the oven to 220oc gas 7.
  2. Place your The Best Triple Cooked Chunky Chips in a single layer on a baking tray, drizzle with oil, and cook for 30 minutes.
  3. Once the chips have been cooking for 15 minutes, place The Best Garlic and Cream Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms on a baking tray and cook for the remaining 15 minutes, until golden.
  4. Empty your jar of hollandaise into a glass pyrex bowl, add a knob of butter and chop the tarragon through, whisk over a pan of simmering water until heated through and then turn off the heat.
  5. Halve your tomatoes, season with salt and pepper and set to one side.
  6. Cook your Ribeye Steak to your liking. For rare, cook for 2 minutes on each side. For medium, cook for 3 minutes on each side. For well done, cook for 5 minutes on each side.
  7. Add the tomatoes to the pan with your steak, face down, for a few minutes.
  8. Serve up and enjoy.
