We'd like to say a huge thank you to all of our colleagues who've worked so hard over the last 12 months to serve our customers in store and online. It's thanks to you we've been named Supermarket of the Year at the Retail Industry Awards 2021.


We're proud to have been chosen as this year’s winner at the Retail Industry Awards. 

We were commended for our strong financial performance that saw us increase sales by 9% in the 12 months to the end of March. Online sales tripled during the year, with capacity up five-fold, and our same-day Morrisons on Amazon service rolled out to some 50 towns and cities. We were also recognised for demonstrating a future-thinking approach with a deal to supply the new Amazon Fresh stores, while continuing to develop our wholesale business.

One judge commented, "Morrisons had a very good year in terms of online, particularly building that partnership with Amazon and it probably did more than anyone else to increase online capacity."

Another quoted, "It did a lot of creative stuff around the pandemic, including food boxes and telephone ordering for vulnerable people. It pushed ahead with things like store openings and its Market Kitchen initiative – which is a really excellent food service concept that can be used as a footfall-driver for its stores. Everyone should be applauded for their efforts during the year, but for me Morrisons was the stand-out."
