From the 16th May 2022, we're giving away 2.75 million packets of cornflower seeds to customers in every store nationwide, to spread hope and positivity to local communities.

Seeds of Hope

From the 16th May, we're giving out free packs of cornflower seeds in every Morrisons store nationwide. Shoppers will be able to get their hands on a free pack at the check-out and online with every order. Local Community Champions will also distribute them to local schools, care homes and community groups to help spread hope and positivity.

How to get your free cornflower seeds

In Store

Pick up your free packet of cornflower seeds from the checkout with your purchase from the 16th May 2022.

Online

Order online between 16th May and 23rd May and look out for your free packet of cornflower seeds being delivered alongside your groceries.

 

How to sow your cornflower seeds

  1. Sow seeds outdoors in May/early June in a pot, container or directly in a flowerbed.
  2. Choose a position in full sun.
  3. Sow seeds thinly just beneath the surface of the soil.
  4. Water regularly, especially during dry periods.
  5. Germination usually takes 14-21 days with flowering in September.
  6. Alternatively, sow indoors in May and transplant outside in July or August.

Cornflowers can remain inside, but reach heights of up to 1m so may be better suited to outdoor growing (especially as bees and butterflies love them!).

Write your Message of Hope on one of our paper chains

We're sharing Messages of Hope within our communities. Help us bring people together and spread positivity by writing your very own Message of Hope on one of our paper chains to display in store and in the community.

In total we’ll be giving out a whopping 1 million paper chains to share with customers, colleagues and local communities to share hope for a brighter future.

Simply:

  1. Collect a paper chain in store or download one free here>>
  2. Fill out your Message of Hope in the space on the front
  3. Colour in the design on the back if you wish
  4. Take back to your local store and drop off with your Community Champion or at your customer service desk, or feel free to use as decoration for your Jubilee celebrations
